NCLEX is the National Council Licensure Examination.
A
student must pass the NCLEX in order to become a
licensed registered nurse or a licensed vocational
nurse in the United States. Accordingly, there is
NCLEX-rn, for a registered nurse (RN), and NCLEX-lvn,
for a licensed vocational nurse (LVN).
Most
nursing students take the exam within 3 months of
graduation from nursing school.
